Every Bible translation is an interpretation and as such the result of much research and reflection. These Bible versions contain appreciable differences that must be taken into account in biblical study. For this reason, Shiloh University does not prescribe the use of any particular Bible translation. Knowledge of biblical Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic is irreplaceable for the serious study of Scripture. In the absence of such language skills, formally equivalent translations (these considered more literal) such as the NASB, ESV, NRSV, or NKJV are preferable for biblical analysis in the English language. And even when using a formal equivalent translation, we recommend that you compare it with other English-language versions.
