GS 501 – Theological Research and Writing

Theological Research and Writing will prepare students for research and writing requirements of future Shiloh University course work. It will instruct students in the categories of biblical and theological resources, and how to utilize EndNote in cataloging resources. The students will learn various types and approaches to biblical and theological research, and the process of writing a research paper. The course includes a review of basic grammar in preparation for future studies in the biblical languages and the process of biblical exegesis.

GS 502 – Computerized Bible Studies

Computerized Bible Studies introduces formal steps of Bible study (observation, interpretation, correlation, and application) with the help of Logos Bible Software. Special attention is given to the use of Logos Software and other electronic tools to expand and focus the study of a Bible passage. The course aims to transition the student from a mere reading of the Bible to an adequate grasp and application of text in historical, literary, and theological context.

GS 510 – Master’s Thesis

The Master’s Thesis is an independent study assignment, an elective for the Master of Divinity degree. The student will be writing an Applied Research Thesis that demonstrates the ability to develop a coherent, sustained theological argument reflecting an in-depth study of a theological topic.
